Bruno’s Summer Treats

In order to make this, you will need:

  • Bone broth (you will need about three teaspoons, you can use something like this)
  • One mango (chop it up into small cubes)
  • One kiwi (chop it up into small cubes)
  • Plain yogurt (about one cup)
  • Seven-Eight blueberries (slice them in half)
  • Five strawberries (slice them in half)
  • Peanut butter (please, check the label to make sure it does not include xylitol-this is harmful for your dog)
  • One cookie pan
  • One piping bag (you can make one from a clean nylon bag by cutting a hole in the corner)

Preparation:

1. Mix about three teaspoons of broth and the yogurt in a big bowl.

2. Place pieces of the chopped fruits in the slots of the cookie pan. Make sure there is free space to pour the yogurt and gravy mix on top of the fruits.

3. Put the yogurt and broth mix on top of the fruits that are already in the slots of the pan.

4. Place the cookie pan in the freezer and keep it there for at least 4 hours until the mixture is hard to the touch. You might want to do this in the evening so you have tasty treats for your dog in the morning.

You can store the treats in a zip-lock bag and keep them in your fridge.

Peanut and Banana Cubes

In order to make this, you will need:

  • One big cup of plain yogurt
  • Four teaspoons of peanut butter (without xylitol!)
  • One banana (use only the soft part)
  • A blender (alternatively, you can use your hands)
  • One cookie pan (preferably featuring cube-shaped slots)

Preparation:

1. Place all ingredients in the bowl for your blender.

2. Blend/mix the ingredients well until the mixture resembles whipped cream in texture.

3. Pour the cream-like mixture into the cookie pan.

4. Place the cookie pan in the freezer for at least 2 hours so the mixture becomes hard.

You can divide the cubes for ease of use and keep them in a zip-lock bag in your fridge.

Watermelon Sticks and Dipping Sauce

In order to make this, you will need:

  • A small-sized watermelon (you will want to use only the soft insides, try to use the parts that have as few seeds as possible so it goes easier through your dog’s stomach)
  • A crinkle cutter (a tool like this)
  • One cup of plain yogurt
  • Two teaspoons of pro-biotic kefir (like this one)
  • Two big strawberries (sliced in half)
  • One coffee spoon of honey
  • A blender (alternatively, you can use your hands to mix the ingredients)

Preparation:

1. Cut the soft part of the watermelon and place it out on your table.

2. Use your crinkle cutter to shape long sticks of watermelon so that they look like fries.

3. Put the crinkle-cut watermelon sticks in your freezer for at least 6 hours. They have to be hard to the touch.

4. Mix the yogurt, kefir, honey and strawberries. Blend the mix so that you have a cream-like substance. Now you have a dipping sauce!

5. Pour the dipping sauce into a dipping dish, take out your watermelon sticks, and dip them in the sauce. Treat your loved canine to gourmet-level food.

Watermelon Sorbet

In order to make this, you will need:

  • One small-sized watermelon (you will want to use only the soft insides, try to use the parts that have as few seeds as possible so it goes easier through your dog’s stomach)
  • One cup of plain yogurt
  • One-fourth cup of water
  • A mixer

Preparation:

1. Cut out the soft part of the watermelon and chop it into small pieces. Put the watermelon in the mixer's bowl.

2. Mix the yogurt with half of the water you prepared in a separate bowl.

3. Add the yogurt to the watermelon pieces and mix them together with a spoon in the mixer's bowl.

4. Place the bowl with the mix in your freezer for at least 24 hours.

5. Bring out the bowl from the freezer, attach it to your mixer, and mix until the texture is like a sorbet. Depending on how juicy your watermelon is you might have to add a bit of water and mix again until you are satisfied with the texture.

6. Scoop up the sorbet and place it into the food bowl for your paw friend to enjoy.

Milky Parfait

In order to make this, you will need:

  • One cup of plain yogurt
  • A handful of blueberries, about ten berries will do (sliced in halves)
  • Mint leaves, about 5-6 will do
  • One coffee spoon of honey
  • Mortar and pestle

Preparation:

1. Take the blueberries and press them in the mortar but do not squash them so much that they become watery. You need the pieces to be chewy.

2. Mix the pressed blueberries and the yogurt in a bowl.

3. Place a bit of honey on top and decorate with one or two sliced berries and the mint leaves.
